EHAM Schiphol 14-04-2011 nightshoot

Post by wild weasel »

Was in the mood for some nightshots, pretty clear weather and no wind made it very well possible. despite that only 4 pics, it was very quite on East, and at the rest of the airport it wasn't better at all. Saw allmost no planes!

If you 'change' the green stripe(s) into red ones, picture #3 looks like an Air France tail...

Great nightshots :!: we should see more of those... :P

Hahaha, let's try that in CS5 shell we?

Thanks guys, for the comments......it was a very nice night, despite the lack of planes, mainly because there was no wind, giving the night allways some kind of atmosphere that i really like....

White balance correction? how do you like to have them, pink? sorry, but i don't see a reason to correct this, cause this is about the way it actually was.....

Hi,

The yellow in nightshots are just miscalculations of the camera. It has a hard time finding the whitepoint cause of the electrical light. This results in the need of an adjustment but not a desaturation.

Nightshots need as much of a correction as daylight shots. A whitebalance adjustment could bring out more colors and light needed to give the picture more juice.

Your brain doesn't compensate the yellow light so you "think" this is how it was.

Some of the best nightshots lack most of the yellow cast thuss I agree with Lars, great shots, nice variety in angles, a very nice close-up (great 3:2 ratio!) but would suggest a whitepoint correction :)

And of course you have all right to............but i disagree with you guys. I have applied some correction on WB, but it was not making them more nice or better to look at, and so i left it how it was.....despite my so called brains (which i don't have  ) who were thinking that this is how it actually was. I would like to keep it as natural as possible......if i take a look at the picture, and i recall that moment on platform East, this is how it was, wether my brains are fooling me or not....

I will do some WB correction and post them here, so you can see for yourself (maybe you guys will like it, but i sure don't.....let's say that that's a matter of taste right)

Okay guys, so here we go.....let me tell you what i did. squeezed klv back from 4000 to 3000, and adjusted wb color to +10 to create a little more magenta/blue and take out some greenish....

Adjusted a little more exposure in this one too by the way, but that's about it.......didn't do nothing more. The blue light at the back of the plane is coming from "gasontladingslampen" from the construction site in the back.....

I have to say, it's not looking bad, but if this is what you guys meant in the first place, i don't know...
