Oil that gets burned? Got the same at the Open Days last year with the demo F-16.

That's right, the oil is burning.

But it doesn't matter at all.

Just an other F-16 which was flying today at Volkel.

This one was more lucky. He didn't fly with smokepod.

Hello,

Last Thursday I was an other day off and it was again nice weather. I could choose between KB, Gilze Rijen and Volkel for a day out for spotting. It was easterly wind, so no KB. There was an excercise with the helicopters of Gilze in Northern Holland, so no Gilze. Volkel was my choise for the day. The weather was nice and sunny although when the morningmission recovered, more clouds arrived. There was good activity. In the morning there were 9 F-16's in the air, in the afternoon 10 F-16's. With the F-16 missions there was also an L-39 flying, so a nice bonus. Around noon and after the afternoon wave recoverd, the new Dutch demo pilot practiced his display. In the morning I stayed at the RWY06 side for the recovery's and the departures of the afternoon wave. Later in the afternoon I moved to a spot near the threshold of RWY24 for some action shots.

I will start with the visitors:
2 apaches made a nice flyby along the tower on request of the tower because they were filming on the tower ;)

Now some of the local F-16's in the morning (I only added 4 pictures, the rest are from the same angles):

And now some pictures I took at the other side of the airfield, near the threshold of RWY24. These are some F-16's that made some low approaches:

I hope you like them and that there aren't too much pictures ;)

Nice angles and somewhat refreshing shots. One of the better ones i've seen of Volkel AFB. Thumbs up!
