Brussels air museum + Beauvechain 06-04-09

Post by Giel »

I had a nice day yesterday. I was invited by some friends to go with them to the brussels air museum to take some pics. Normally it's closed on monday but they know someone there who opened the doors for us. In combination with Brussels, they organised a visit to Beauvechain. You don't have to ask that twice!

In the museum there were some cockpits that were opened for us. Like the Dakota

...And the boxcar...

It was almost noon by then so we had to go to beauvechain. We were picked up at the entrance by our 'guide'.
He brought us to the mess were I could enjoy a tasteful steak with french fries
After that we drunk something at the bar of the meteo and than we went to the marchetti's.
I hoped to see the special paint but I didn't thought to find him outside in the sun!
Our 'guide' is the guy who made the paintsheme for this plane.

after that we went to the controltower were the meteo is situated at the first floor. We got some interesting info there.

Image

Than back to the 'taxi' for some A-jets!
There were two parked outside. One for tests and the other just standing there.

We were surprised to see this one passing by!!!
There is written all over it

From one hangar to the other. There were two fouga there. Second one is MT-49

There were also 2 F-16's

Our 'guide' had to go, so we went to the small museum on the field.

Than back to the controltower
this one was on our way

Image

We didn't even get in the controltower itself. The man of the meteo came to say that two French A-jets were ready to depart.
We jumped in the car and drove to the jets. No taxi-shot's because we were driving to the runway for some close pics!

Image

the weather was dark at that moment :(

Just after take off a C-130 made some T&G's

Image

Image

Than back to the controltower for some interesting info and that's it!!

Hope you like 'm!

Wow, a great report. You've made some nice shots!

Seems like there is a lot of dust inside Brussel's museum? And I didn´t knew that the Seaking´s engine and rotors where removed, that really is a pitty...

Regards,
Sven

Looks like you had a nice day. Did you see many Alpha Jets? Could you share the serials, please?

Ha! Seems like nothing changed at the museum the last decade or so  (except for the Sea King of course). Nice pics! I especially like the Alphachetti.

They are planning a major overhaul of the museum. But money is the issue.
Time will tell, if it goes like planned.
I would like a major overhaul to have it look like the Automuseum across the parking lot.

Ronald

ps. It is a museum worth visiting still !!! And best of all, they have a Phantom
