BTW: Who can tell me the difference between the 2 Spanish versions of the Hornet? F/A-18A & EF-18M.

Johnny,

Excellent shots, nothing wrong with them (very sharp, I like that)! My favorites are the second Mirage F.1CR, the third Spanish Mirage F.1 and the third Matador.
Only point of (positive) critism is that you present a lot of shots. I'm personally a favorite of only a few teasers and let the viewers ask for more! But as said, that is al matter of personal taste!

Cheers,

Erik

Super shots, Johnny !!

EF-18M's are the (mid life) updated, original Spanish EF-18A Hornets. (initial batches included 72 single-seaters EF-18A and 12 two-seat EF-18B's). Updated Hornets have the same capabilities as the F/A-18C/D aircraft. At one time they were called EF-18A+. Nowadays EF-18M seems to be the common name. (don't know if there is a difference between them...)

In 1995 Spain obtained 24 ex-USN surplus F/A-18A Hornets. They received minor modifications to make them more compatible with the EF-18's. next to limited avionics updates, the received new F404-GE-400 engines. I'm not sure if these jets have (already) been updated to the mid-life update of the EF-18M. The F/A-18A's can be distinguist from EF-18M as they still have the 'catapult-connection-rod ' attached to the nose landing gear. They have serial in the C.15-73 and up range and have '46-xx' codes

Hope this helps...

F/A-18A are

To identify a EF-18M you have to look at the spine. There is a large white antenna on top of the aircraft between the cockpit and the tail. The EF-18M have a very small knob/dome behind this large antenna. This is the GPS receiver and the only way to identify a M from the outside, in my opinion.

Nice Pics!
