Sheppard Technical Training Centere '93

Post by dinovandoorn »

Hi,

I visited Sheppard AFB back in 1993 ! this was very interesting visit with a lot of ground instructional air frames at the technical training centere. I don't know if this is still a fact and if it is still filled up with GI planes.

 This is one FINE collection of photos!! Must have been almost like going back to the eighties, seeing all these oldies in the condition they are in, with "remove before flight"-pins and everything, REALLY like they're about to start up and fly off...!!! I'm hoping for more!!!

Best regards,

Stephan

Here some from me, as you can see with terrible weather (thanks to PS the light is a bit better). I collect tailcodes & C-135 airframes so the rain could not stop me to shot some slides.

Visit in March 2004

Post by Wijgert IJlst »

11 years after Dino's visit (1993) I was also able to have a look here. As I only had my pocked digital with me, these are not the best pictures... but it gives an good idea of some of the present aircraft during my visit in March 2004:

The fifteenth F-fifteen built... (LN Eagle in the background)

One of many old F-16's... When this bird started flying, a fy '53 F-84 would have been as old as this Falcon is now!!

Image

Not yet with the ST tailcode, new arrival maybe?

Image

Open-air aircraft spraying class... think it was 62-1795 (tbc...)

Funny!

You realy got some brilliant shots... tell me, what is the story about this (former?) Lakenheath Striker? Am right it ends on 03? Does this make it the 91-0303 from 492 FS?
