Forum rules
ImageThis is the forum to share your recent aviation photos with the rest of the community, being photos not older than six months at the moment of topic opening. Theme-based topics, not about recent events, should go into the sub-forum.
Although we will not screen beforehand, we reserve the right to delete any images, especially if clearly unsharp or otherwise low in quality. For more information on how to upload you images, check this post.
In topic titles, please use airfield names in stead of just codes, and be clear about what kind of photos your viewers can expect (e.g. CIV/MIL, location etc.).

Finally, bring any photo criticism understandable and to the point, not cynical or offensive! Simultaneously, do not feel offended by criticism per se, but simply explain your motives, taste et cetera, or ignore if you wish so.

and then the phone rang: shall we go to Schiphol for the RAF VC10?

After somebody yelled that the Ascot announced herself (we did not hear her on the scanner, thus took a slower speed then the rest) we drove to 18R spotters corner. When driving parallel of 18R we heared her and after some confusion on the status of medical (approach thought they were on a medical emergency and were deviating to Schiphol while the pilot said they were a medical flight), she got cleared for 27. We turned around at the last stop lights and drove back to the fire brigade at the 27. While the car was not entirely stopped we opened the doors and start running to the bridge crossing the highway. We (hopla and myself) made it just in time while our driver just got a little too late. Then indeed going to 24 for the outbound of the VC10, my brother overheared that a flight bound to the UK got recleared to 18L we drove back to the beginning of the 18L. Once arrived at 18L we heared that her flight plan got suspended. Then we must have missed start up and taxi clearance (we were too busy with trying to make nightshots at Schiphol we heared her taxiing to 18L and smelled the burned kerozine once she got airborne from the beginning of 18L.

It indeed feld like spotting in the old days, hunting all over Schiphol for THE plane.

Here is the result of an evening hunting for the VC10, but we did shoot her.

Edit:
Forgot about the English, sorry

Your aperture values seem a bit high. With high aperture values, less light falls onto your sensor. The shutterspeed seems ok, much slower and you will probably get unsharp pictures due to movement. ISO speeds also are set fine for dark shots, but the aperture seems very high.
Don't know what lens you used and if you can go down enough to compensate but that would be the first place to look.

Chaps, the atmosphere of the pics is beaten only by that of the stories. Thanks for sharing!
