Hatzerim museum 09-05-08 (Israel planes)

Post by Marco »

the day before our visit a total of 15000 people did visit the museum!!

luckily enough all planes in the museum were cleaned before we came. The reason for this were the days to memorated the fallen soldiers and indepence of Israel of few days before our arrival.

this plane was flown by a deserted Iraqi pilot. After arrival she was used by the IDF to get pilots familiar to the MiG. After completion of their training the plane was lent to the USA for familirisation.

this is the plane with the most kills on her name in the world. She was flown by the IDF at 159. Later sold to South America and after study they found her back and bought her back. She is to be repainted in IDF colours.

affirmative, but this plane was painted as the 129, but after studies of Israeli spotters they did find out that this one was originally the 128. The 129 has the most kills followed by the 128

Hi Marco,

I mean your Windows live pages sorry for that.
About the Mirage IIICJ in Argentina colors this should be former 158 and later renumbered to 758.
Was the Israeli one with 14 kills marked as '158' now? This one should have another real ID as well...

I was there in 1996 and 159 was in IAF colors, so they have two examples now. But... the planes are repainted several times and also changed colors so it is difficult to find out the real identity again....

Maurits,

Didn't we see one that was numbered "111" there or wasn't that a Mirage IIIC?

There has been some rewriting of the history:

This one I took in May 2003:

and this one May 2008:

In October 2003 the Argentine Mirage was first noted at Hatzerim as 159.
