Miami spotting (Photo heavy)

Post by EC »

Hi all, in the week from January 16th till 23rd I made a visit to the airports of Miami and Fort Lauderdale. My last visit to Miami was in 1999 so it had been a while. It must be said that Miami has become a lot less interesting then it was. Not only are a lot of the more exotic airlines gone, also the number of movements has reduced in my opinion.

The view from the 5 holes in the fence and especially the freighters on the right runway make Miami still worth a visit tough. Most of the flying this week was with an approach over the Everglades.

Hope you enjoy this mix:

As you can see, the weather was a mix of sun and clouds.
I'll start a separate topic with the Ft Lauderdale pictures, if you liked these you'll like those at least as much.

Kind regards,
EC

Indeed, the Arrow DC-8 looks great :-E:

EC,
Did you go to the 94th Aero Squadron at all? I know you can spot from there, but I don't know about photos. Should be in Miami for a couple of days in April on holiday, and a slow meal there might allow me to do some spotting while the family are eating!

I did use the parking at this restaurant to read of some numbers in february 2007, but I wouldn't count too much on taking pictures from there. The restaurant is located some 60 or 70 metres from the fence, with a busy road between the restaurant and the fence, so it'll be hard to take pics without the fence or passing cars on it.

Nice pictures in this thread, I'm looking forward to my next visit to Miami, which fortunately is next thursday!! I'll post the pics here when I get back.

Especially for the DC8 fans another Arrow DC 8, this one without Panama titles but with Panamese registration.
