Falcon Leap - Twente - 09-2023

Post by Krazy »

With one of the exercise areas for Falcon Leap in the neighbourhood, and a few free hours in the busy schedule available, a visit to Twente had to be made. RWY05 was in use so I opted for spot #5 in the airfield guide.

The first flight with the Romanian C-27J and a Dutch C-130 approached the field at about 13:30. The flight landed a few times, and the Spartan turned around on the runway to take off again right in front of us:

As the C-130 landed first, it didn't come all the way back to us, but it still looked pretty during one of the approaches:

Rogue3 and 4 (The AMI C-130 and another RNLAF C-130) flew to the Marnewaard while Rogue1 and 2 were practicing at Twente. After about 45 minutes, the flights switched places. Rogue1 and 2 made their way up north, and 3 and 4 came to Twente.

One of the approach methods the flights used was to come in from the north, cross the runway, and go into a right hand break. After a few of those approaches around the middle of the field (which was too far away for me to take decent shots off) the rogue 3 formation switched to an approach a bit more to the west, making it possible to catch the RNLAF C-130 during the break:

The last star of the show was the Italian C-130J. Captured during one of the low approaches it did:

All in all a few enjoyable hours spent at my old home base. Hope you like them!

Regards,

Bram

Thank you all!

A small addition:
On the 13th, part of the Rogue flight (Rogue4, 5 and 6) visited Twente for the last time during this exercise. The Dutch Hercules and Romanian C-27J brought the Polish C295 along this time. It waited just long enough on the runway to catch a few rays of sunshine. A nice ending of the exercise for me.
