Spanish aircraft carrier Istanbul

Post by Coen »

There is a Spanish aircraft carrier, the Juan Carlos I, in the harbour of Istanbul, in the Karaköy harbour near the Galata bridge. Today, May 30, it was open for the public from 10.30 to 12.30 and from 16.00 to 18.00. On Thursday, June 2, it will also be open for the public on these local times. There are 1 EAV-8B, 1 SH-3H/AEW, 1 SH-3H and 1 H369 on board. The last two are on deck. According to the Turkish police it is not allowed to take pictures but the Spanish allow it. At 16.00 the sun is behind you for taking pictures on deck. The tour on the ship takes about an hour. On Friday the ship leaves heading for Ceuta.

The ship is not in the harbour today, June 1. It comes back tomorrow and it is open for the public. That's what the Turkish police in the harbour told me.
