Hi,
The JASDF will send their Phantoms to the MHI for the IRAN in FY2013, and get them by Feb. 2015(almost the end of FY2014 in Japan).(Source: Purchase program FY2013, Min. Def., Japanese only.)
The JSDF will make contract with the MHI in September.

It means that they will use the Phantoms by Mar. 2017(the end of the FY2016) at least.
There are 55 F-4EJ"kai"s at 301 and 302 sqn., 7 F-4EJs at Gifu, 8 RF-4Es and 5 RF-4EJs at 501 sqn. now.

Hi Uni,thanks for the info.

It's nice to hear that the JSDF will keep the Phantoms in active service for some more years.

19 Oct. JASDF Hamamatsu reharsal flight 0900-1200.
Only the disabled people(and their supporters) will be able to enter the base and see the show.
Sure, you can see the show outside of the base.

20 Oct. JASDF Hamamatsu, car park information.
http://www.mod.go.jp/asdf/hamamatsu/kou ... g_all.html
You have to walk about 2km from the car park to the base.
I recommend you that you leave your car at around the JR Hamamatsu station (Car park fee will be 1,000-2,000JPY/one day) and use the shuttle bus from the station(the bus terminal is in front of the station, 350-500JPY/one way).

Hi Uni,

We (3 Dutch guys) will visit Japan for almost 3 weeks starting at the end of October. As we have plans to visit the Open houses at Iruma and Tachikawa we would like to have more information about these shows if known by you.
Further wise we would like to know if the USMC will be 'flying' at Iwakuni on Cultural Day (observed) November 4th?
Thanks in advance,

Hi spooky4,

About the Iruma O.H., please see this;
http://www.mod.go.jp/asdf/iruma/kouhou/ ... s/panf.pdf
Note: You cannot bring your step-ladder into the base !
There come more than 100,000 people (when it is fine, more than 200,000),
so there are always long lines to the toilet, long lines to the railway station...

About the JGSDF Tachikawa,
It takes about 15-20min. walk from the JR Tachikawa station.
http://www.mod.go.jp/gsdf/eae/eaavn/access.html
Open 09:00am, and a lot of helicopters take off(lift off) at around 10:30-10:50am for the mass fly-by.
The displayed helicopters return to their base at around 14:30-15:30pm.
(Base colse 15:00)

About the Iwakuni.
Maybe some UMSC a/c will fly on 4 Nov., but I do'nt know their schedules.

Hi Uni,

Thanks for this useful information.
We experienced by ourselves that it was very crowdy during the Iruma OH in 2008 (over 200.000 people) with long lines to the toilets!!
So in your opinion Iwakuni won't be closed for US(MC) traffic on the 4th?
