Koksijde Airshow 29.08.2012

Saw at the Airshow Section, that a date for the Koksijde Airshow 2012 was added. Is it a typo?!?!

Its not a typo, but it will not be an airshow. It will be a small opendoor, but there is very little known about the set-up of the opendoor if there will be other airplanes or not. It will certainly not be an airshow like we had in 2011, and personally I think we will never have such an airshow like this in Koksijde/Belgium...

- Basepersonel at Koksijde is now 400 people, in the next years it will be reduced to 150 people... So they will need a lot of help from other bases then to organise an airshow, which will be very difficult.

- If they organise it again during the week and not in a weekend, then it should be possible to have nice participants, otherwise you always have to share the participants with other airshows. You can only organise an airshow during the week in a touristic region (coast) in the touristic season, otherwise you will never have a big amount of visitors to the show. Impossible to do that in Florennes and Beauvechain.

- I still don't believe that Koksijde will remain open after the seakings will be gone. You don't keep such an airbase open for max 3 helicopters. Belgium will have 4 NH-90NFH, but maintenance will be at Beauvechain, so there will only be max 3 helicopters at Koksijde. Its much easier to build a hangar for 2 helicopters with a platform at Ostend airport or the harbour of Zeebrugge...

Things are not looking so good for Koksijde if you ask me...

This is only my personal meaning, but only time will tell.
