Does somebody have an email address or contact, where you can accredit as press photographer (and what advantages do you have in Piestany compared to normal visitors? Any experiences from the past?)

I used the mail address "press@nld.sk" for further informations on the official website, but no response :-(

Thank you in advance for some hints

Piestany is my hometown, I know the place like my shoes. As accredited press member you will have a place reserved among other visitors, though still against the sun afternoon. You better cross the railway next to runway on your own and take photos from the corn field. Some my photos from 2007 airshow. Will be there again like last year.

Wow - really nice shots! But I assume your spot was slightly better that regular visitor;)
Can you tell us on what time we should change location to avoid taking pictures against the sun? Is it possible to be between railway and airfield fence? Or should we go to mentioned corn field? What about railway electricity lines? Aren't they to close to take shots?

Hi Borygo,
Thanks, it is always better to stay on the other side, where it flies directly above your head. I do not recommend to switch sides during the day, it can take more than 1 hour, there will be a lot of police men redirecting you and you can stuck somewhere else. Generally, police will prevent entering cars on the other side, just walking.
Anyway, if I may ask what country are you from?

regards
Martinez

Martinez, thanks for quick reply!
That's not a good news....My plan was to change sides around 12 o'clock...but now I am confused...
Is it possible to stay between railway and airfield fence? If I will be on corn field - what about railway electricity lines?

I am from Poland and I will be traveling via Bratislava which will be my forward operating base:)

You can try to change sides whenever you like, I`m just telling you possible obstacles during the airshow display time. I remember some of my friends were not allowed to do that bcs of police and airshow organizers. Railway electricity lines stand in the way of course when staying in the cornfield, therefore I took pictures from railway embankment during take-offs and landings, then I run again deep to the cornfield. Yes, you can stay between railway and airfield fence.

Thanks again.
Can you please show me on google maps where I should leave car if I decide to go directly to railway side?
Another thing: can you please confirm us on Friday when Russian Sukhoi will arrive? Cause now I strongly doubt if Russians will take part of the show...
Thank you!
cheers!

I would like to say, that in case you go there early enough in the morning you can get by car almost to the railway. Some problems can occur later, when police will be "scrambled" to coordinate the visitors.

Have you seen my map? I made it for UKAR to explain how to get outside the base:

I think it is best leave your car somewhere on the blue line if you get there, or on "Janosikova road - Janosikova cesta".

Thanks Screenes - I forgot about your map - very useful!
Do you know on what time the main part of airshow will start?
I am still thinking what to do....Maybe I should go directly to "corn field" as Martinez suggested?? Tough decision:)

Russian participation is doubtful in general, but you know the hope dies at last. A month ago Russian president Medvedev visited Slovakia, we have good relationship with them in the military area, so they officialy invited Russians to attend NLD2010. I heard from first hand there were some negotiations, but probably failed bcs of Organizer's inability to fulfill Russian requirements.
You can leave your car somewhere near village Bašovce (Bashovce), then walk the bridge over the highway D1 and across the cornfield to the railway line. Another option is showed on the map above, but be aware the blue line could be occupied by police men also early morning. Near the railway, there is a parking place for firefighter cars(blue-red line crossing), they might disagree with car parking hindering their movement and calling police. Not my advice.

Shame about Russians...For all of us this would be a highlight...Who knows...we will see. I hope that Italian Typhoon will be there at least.
Thanks for all your hints and please keep us updated.

I am confused. AFAIK, Russians are officialy confirmed and their participation depends just on if they come or not (I heard stories that they cancelled participation, when their aircrafts were flying to airshow and were forced to return), but few days ago one Czech wrote at slovak aviation forum, that nobody in Sukhoi OKB or general staff of russian army knows anything about participation in Piestany. Of course it is possible that somebody incompetent confirmed participation. I dont know. I hope they come.

I forgot: parking at the base will be provided for a fee of 3 euros

Guys - is there a possibility that NLD will be canceled due to flood? How is the situation in Slovakia? In Poland is getting worse...
