Crazy Czech Trip Day 4 23-5-2009 (Caslav Air Show part)

Post by Arjan »

Hi all,

After combing through the western part of the Czech republic for wrecks and relics on the 22nd. Today was the day of the airshow at Caslav. One of the main goals for this trip. Knowing that the show would not be big, but a rather nice opportunity to spot some Czech aircraft we decided to go.

Parkings was close by the south east gate. After that you had to walk to the center of the field to gain acces to the south east ramp, from there you could walk the rest of the static, lining up to the northwest. Believe me, this was one of the longest static lines I visited with the fewest aircraft. Photography was bad, no lines around the aircraft on the south east static and fences to close to the aircraft on the other ramp. And mostly they were pulled aside so that people could walk around the aircraft.
Photography on the runway was rather good, but the sun turns in the early afternoon, so you got a backlight. However, aircraft had to backtrack and in the turns some decent shots could be made with the sun in the back.

The preserved aircraft are in excellent condition!!!!

After all, the show wasn't spectaculair, but at due time really nice with good flying by the participants!

The Mi-8 came in almost when the show ended. The An-26 was escorted by two QRA Gripens and landed but departed soon after. The Mi-24's flew a demo and the Mi-171 parked next to them flew two para drops. Unfortunetaly the Slovak Mig 29's cancelled.
Two more L-159 Alca's could be seen on the flightline and also one Jas-39. Unfortunetaly this flightline could not be seen from the public side.

After this, we had a long haul back to Ramstein!!!

The JAS39C was 39268/268. Can't help with the ALCA's, sorry. The flightline could be viewed from just by MiG-21MFN 4003.
