Post by Phantom54 »

Acoording to a T-6 Squadron commander at Kalamata a T-6 Texan will participate, most likely on static display.

The September dates on that page look like last year's, Malta's date is wrong, so is Southport's, which is where the RAF Typhoon will be on the date of Malta.

Some updates on http://www.maltairshow.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; include the decision to have the show over the airport only.

but also:
July 29th, 2009

Contacts with the Libyan AF continue and the indications now show the possibility of a Su 24 for the static display
.

See http://www.maltairshow.com/Default.aspx?tabid=240" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for the latest participants listing

Hi,

I see that the participants-list on the website is dubbed as "complete" and the Libyans are still on the list, nice! If they actually do show up, please try to check the constructionnumbers of these birds as they are rarely seen. (BTW: Checking c/n's is always a good idea!). The constructionnumbers can be found in the following places:

Hi,

The Su-22 plate location on the Wiki is pretty impossible to access. Note that there are also plates in the wheelbays BUT (!!!) it should be noted that the mail wheelbay plates belong to the wings and not necessarily to the fuselage! So please check as much as locations as possible and remember which plate was where!

Greetings, Paul

Quoting Malta Airshow website:

Spetember 17, 2009

A very sad day where it must be communicated that the Libyan AF will not make it to the Malta Int'l Airshow 2009. After long and intense efforts where participation was approved by both the air force and the ministry of defence in Libya, higher authorities have now declined our invitation. The situation developed last night and fresh efforts were made to salvage the situation but to no avail.

In the meantime, preparations for this year's airshow continue in earnest and there is still a possibility of increased participation by other countries, but this will feature in the participants' list if and when confirmations come in.

Unfortunately the Greek T-6 and Italian F-16's, and off course the Libyans didn't show up. There was also a Dutch AF F-50, but didn't bother with the number, as per picture in a local newspaper, on Sunday there was also a Dutch KDC-10. And there where aprox. 20 small homebuild/private planes, which are of no interest to me, sorry.
