Hi Patchman,

In 2007, a group of us from Scotland left it late to find somewhere nearby and were surprised to get rooms easy at the Days Inn at Membury which is right in the M4 (from London to Bristol). In the past I had been told that it was difficult to get close and this hotel is only 40 kms from the base so 30 mins drive.

Try http://www.daysinn.com/DaysInn/control/ ... andInfo=DI" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

No restaurant there but right at the motorway services and there is a great Indian restaurant in a nearby village.

Regards
Rick Ware

I am a South African who will be attending RIAT this year. In 2000 when it was at Cottesmore I ended up spending the night under a tree as there was no accomodation available. Not this time, so if anyone can help me find accomodation reasonably priced and close to a bus or train station ASAP I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

Your extensive answer is 9 posts above yours, clicking at Stefan's link (I guess for a South African Dutch might be quite understandable)

Ahh, I must admit my Afrikaans (Dutch) is about as good as my Mandarin of Turkish. But my Zulu is OK. HELP.

hello everyone, just joined today.
Have noticed queries regarding accommodation for RIAT '09. Just booked today a hotel in Swindon (6 miles from Fairford). Shuttle buses going from Swindon rail station every 20 minutes to the show from 7am saturday and sunday, taking 30 minutes or so. Still rooms at my hotel as of today http://www.locomotour.co.uk/swindon click on '15 hotels to stay in swindon'. I got accommodation at the 'Ivy hotel', 4 rooms left as of 9.30 this morning.

To make things clear, and not having people waiting at a place where the busses won't show up: busses will leave from swindon bus station, which is about a 5 minutes walk from the railway station. Source: http://www.airtattoo.com/airshow/Visito ... ion/travel (Leave the station on the front side, cross the road (beware of the steep steps) and continue on the same heading. As soon as you enter the bus station, shuttle busses normally leave from the far right side.)
