Says who???

2 years ago there was plenty on possibility to take some good "landing"shots.

On both sides of the runway it was no problem ( despite the bad weather)

CU there,

The latest info i got from the base is that the spottershill at 06 will not be closed on the 19th (only 20 and 21 june).
Don't know what will happen when we fly 24 as no one in our police force seems to know who is responsible for a possible closure of the farmerfields.
They forbid a paid entrance to the farmer 2 years ago.
I do know that parking your car at the 24 side will be forbidden from the base entrance towards the village of Jelsum on the secondary road!

I think a general rule is now: leave your car somewhere not near the approaches and be prepared for a brisk walk, i.e. perhaps even a kilometre or two!

Although I'm not registered for the spottersday, I'm planning to go see the arrivals/rehearsals on Thursday. But I read in this topic a lot about Marechaussee and police being there to chase people away. :?

Is it allowed to stand in the vicinity of the runway? Can you get arrested for being there? Or will they take your camera?

Can anyone give some usefull tips ?

Hello Jerre,

It is not certain yet whether one will be allowed to stay/loiter in the vicinity of the runway.
But to have your camera confiscated or even get arrested by Dutch (military) police you would REALLY have to show bad behaviour. Haven't heard for years of people losing their photo equipment to Dutch authorities. :!:

Back in 2004 one spotter was arrested at Volkel during arrivals day, but the reasons of this arrest were probably somewhat debatable/controversial. :?:

And before this happened the Marechaussee had already moved people away several times but apparently not without a clear plan, making the persons who were sent from one spot to the other around rather angry. It caused riots...

So, if you don't enter/sneak into zones that are guarded and/or fenced off by Dutch police and you obey orders to move on (IF these are given at all that is...) you are not likely to run into trouble with the authorities. :D
If you don't antagonise/provoke them Dutch civilian police can be quite friendly or even helpful and not all Dutch military police (Marechaussee) are "baddies"...

Message from the farmer near beginning 24:
His fields will be off limits next couple of weeks.
So during the arrival days you will have to stand on the side of the road when 24 is in use.

Two years ago I was, together with a lot of other spotters, at the 06 side for the whole arrival day and we had no trouble at all.
We have seen a lot of police at the road and they placed some tickets at the cars, which where parcked in the grass along the road.
Be early and you can place your car at the right place, a couple of meters from the spotters place. I don't know the situation at the 24 side.
