De Luchtmachtdagen 2017 die op de vliegbasis Volkel gehouden zouden worden, gaan niet door. Dat werd woensdagavond gemeld in het overleg tussen omwonenden, luchtmacht en bestuurders uit de regio.
Volgens Rob van den Heuvel van de Koninklijke Luchtmacht heeft defensie onvoldoende tijd om de jaarlijkse publieksdagen voor 2017 te organiseren.
De Luchtmachtdagen zijn elk jaar goed voor een paar honderdduizend bezoekers. Dit jaar waren die op de basis in Leeuwarden, in 2017 zou Volkel gastheer zijn. Of de Luchtmachtdagen in 2018 worden gehouden, is ook nog niet zeker.

Wasn't '18 the year there wouldn't be airforcedays due to the cuts in the Hillen era?Of de Luchtmachtdagen in 2018 worden gehouden, is ook nog niet zeker.
