Already mentioned few times earlier on this forum:

A388U = Ultra Long range config
A388L = Long range config

A388U's have a crewrest area. Because of the crew rest the U version has 399 Y seats instead of the 418 Y seats on the A388L version, which has no crewrest. The U versions are used for longer flights such as DXB-SYD, DXB-NRT, DXB-JFK, and do not visit European airports very often.
