regi ZH888 visually confimed, she's parked in front of MP hangar 4, pretty remote from the fence and with the sun in her back....

Seems like a fuelstop as crew was just having coffee around the aircraft so assume she'll be gone again in an hour or so

RAF C130J about to land on 06 (1555LT) - c/s RRR4709. SBS shows it as ZH887

Just out of curiosity, what are these Hercs doing here all the time? I mean, it is great, but why? It is not like Lyneham - Amsterdam is about the limit for them if it comes to fuel, now is it?

Has she arrived yet, if not, what runway will she take?? 18R just like the ZH888 did ?? (haven't seen her yet and I'm located underneath 18R)

Yes, the Herc landed and is parked at East. Visual confirmation of the serial: it's the ZH887.

And is there a connection between the shortage of transport capacity within the dutch air force and all those raf flights into schiphol?

Reason could be bringin soldiers home from winter training.but i thougt this was always done in norway.or it is just transport just like the c160 flights into eindhoven in the past.

Haven't seen all the hercs that arrived over the last couple of week, but the ones I did see didn't load nor offload anything and only activity visible has been refueling so they will have no impact whatsoever on the lack of capacity from our own airforce

also, than it would be more likely to offload in Eelde or Eindhoven once every while, depending on weather it's luchtmobiel, Marines or Commando's...
But it certainly is strange to see so many in a short span of time...

Well, sure, rather not knowing the reason, but many coming.... than knowing why they are not coming!

But apparantly the reason is not really clear, if you can find out Polleke, I would be very interested.

For what I have understand, it has to do with the currently extreme low pound value, which means that the U.K. has to pay more pounds for their USD rated fuel in the UK than outside. This is the reason that they not only stop a lot at Schiphol (closest airport outside U.K. with 24/7 availability), but also at Shannon. It is comparable with a financial hedge, but I won't bother this board with explaining that. Of course a stop has to fit in the schedule of the crew and the cargo transported/to be transported (rest hours, total flying time, slot times etc etc)
