With a 90% loadfactor for the coming months and the fact that AMS is the European gateway, I'd say it's nonsense.
Unfortunately a healthy loadfactor does not automatically means a profitable route, and with the current special fairs they offer, it is not that difficult to fill up the plane, but very difficult to make any money.

MH does operate A330-300, who cannot make it to AMS. So with the B772 on the way out, they are left with the A380, to big probably, or with aircraft that doesn't have the legs to make it to AMS. And if they find a good way to ditch the A380's, they wouldn't mind to get rid of them too, good for PR, but to much of a plane for them. But is also still very well possible that as part of the recovery plan, they will order new longhaul aircraft, which can make it to AMS.

Time will tell

I am not sure you are correct on that point. MAS has just replaced their 330s with new versions (built between 2011 and now) which may have the legs to do KUL-AMS. According to Airbus marketing pages the range is up to 11.000km which should be enough. However, I don't know if indeed MAS does have the long legs version. I thought it had always been their intention to do Europe with them...

Other option is that KLM will fly the route and MH will codeshare just like the other flight done by KLM already. Anyhow we will see.

KUL-AMS is well over 12,5 hours flying time against the prevailing headwinds. I'd be surprised if even the most recent versions of the A333 have legs that long.

That's the point I cannot say anything about. Pure on distance though it should be possible. The newest A333 has 11.000km range, while AMS-KUL is just over 10.000km.

AMS-KUL is no problem for the 333, KUL-AMS is....
