All,

Update from my side; unfortunately I have not been able to spend as much time as would have liked 'on Scramble' the last couple of weeks, as my boss (the one who pays my bills in this case) wanted me to actually earn my salary. (as a side note: we still are looking for another 'techie' to help us out, and in cases like this, take over from me!!)

To further delay things, the hosting provider we picked does not offer software support. As we do not have sufficient knowledge of server software (Linux, Apache and so on) to be fully confident to do this ourselves, we had to find another system administrator first.

Good news is that we have found this system administrator, so this morning I actually signed the contract with the hosting provider!!
We now have to wait until the server is actually delivered (it first has to be 'build' to our specifications), which might take up to a week, and then have all necessary software installed.
When this has be done, I need to find the time to install a test version of the Message Board -again-, actually test it, after which we finally can migrate the Message Board itself to this new server.

So in short, we finally have a new hosting provider, in which we have more confidence then the last (they also do the hosting for several major international websites), but it might take some more weeks before we finally can make the move.

Regards,

Hans

Indeed very good news... the performance is now really bad, even at "quiet" times.

Hope the upgrade will be smooth and quick :-)

Thanks,
Matthijs

Small update:

The new server has been supplied about an hour ago, at least the hardware part. Now the installation of the software etc has to be scheduled. But at least one major step forwards!
