IndiGo increases Airbus-orders, close to Boeing-order

IndiGo has announced it has increased its open orders with Airbus by adding firm orders for ten A320neo-family aircraft. With this latest addition, the airline has now ordered a total of 1,240 A320neo-family aircraft directly with Airbus. The airline has the flexibility to choose between the A320neo or A321neo and will make a final decision when the production slot nears.

Earlier this year, Scramble reported that IndiGo was mulling a potential wide-body order. Over the last few weeks various business news websites like Reuters and Bloomberg have been reporting that Boeing seems to be the frontrunner now for this order. According to these news-outlets the order would be for up to 25 Boeing B787s, with a final decision due before the end of the year.

IndiGo is currently flying with a fleet of forty ATR72-600s, twenty A320s, 172 A320neos, two A321-200P2Fs, 92 A321neos, and two wet-leased B777-300ERs.
