IndiGo mulls widebody order

Indian low-cost carrier IndiGo is considering placing an order for widebodies according to several news outlets in India. The potential order is for 15 to 20 aircraft and is currently being discussed with both Airbus and Boeing. A final decision is expected before the end of the year, although IndiGo has said the news is "speculation".

IndiGo is considering adding widebody aircraft as they have an earlier availability than narrowbodies and will support the airline's ambitious international expansion plans. The airline is an exclusive ATR and Airbus-operator but has recently started to deploy a single, from Turkish Airlines wet-leased, Boeing B777-300ER on flights to Istanbul.

IndiGo currently has a fleet of 39 ATR72-600s, 21 A320s, 163 A320neos, two A321-200P2Fs, and 81 A321neos. It has open orders for 178 A320neos and 305 A321neos with Airbus.
