Aeronautica Militare flying training programme starts with Phase 1, the basic ‘Flying Training’ element. Phase 2 of the flying training programme sees the students leave Latina to go to Lecce or elsewhere (Sheppard, Kalamata) for basic jet training

The Aeronautica Militare has identified a requirement for around 45 T-345A training aircraft to progressively replace its fleet of 137 Aermacchi MB339s, that have been in service since 1982. The T-345A is also destined to become the new platform of Italy’s National Aerobatic Team (Pattuglia Acrobatica Nazionale (PAN), also known as Frecce Tricolori.

(Varese-Venegono 20Aug21 Mauro Finati)

The M-346 is designed for the main role of lead-in fighter trainer, in which aircraft’s performance and capabilities are used to deliver pilot training for the latest generation of combat fighter aircraft. The Italian Air Forces uses the military designation T-346A for these aircraft.
