Sweden places order for GlobalEyes

On 30 June 2022, Saab has announced that the Swedish Defence Material Administration (FMV) has placed an order for two GlobalEye Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) aircraft. The aircraft are to be delivered in 2027 and the deal also includes options on another two. The order was expected and already reported by Scramble Magazine in October 2021, altough the exact number of aircraft involved was unknown at that time.

Based on the Bombardier Global 6000/6500 business jets, the GlobalEye can operate up to eleven hours long AEW&C missions. It can conduct air, sea and ground surveillance.

Today, the GlobalEye is only in use with the United Arab Emirates Air Force, which operates three of them and has two more on order.
