Snifter has arrived

A new warbird for Air Leasing / Ultimate Warbirds has arrived at Sywell Aerodrome (UK). It is Mustang VH-MFT ‘Snifter’, in fact a license built Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation (CAC) CA-18 Mk.21 (c/n 1435). In the final stages and immediately after the end of WW II some 200 Mustangs were locally built for the RAAF as CA-17 and CA-18.

After a long journey from Australia, the plane was released from its transport container at Sywell on 7 November 2023. Air Leasing has most likeley decided to buy the two seat Mustang to comply with the increasing demand for passenger flights in which people can enjoy the true warbird experience.

Scramble Magazine reported earlier, on 30 August 2023, about the sale of this Australian warbird to the UK. Our local correspondent defied the strong winds at Sywell to share his photos with us.
