Germany GN NH90 Sea Tiger credit Airbus 640Sea Tiger performs maiden flight

On 30 November 2023, the first NH90 Sea Tiger made its maiden flight at the Airbus Helicopters' facility at Donauwörth (Germany).

The Sea Tiger, temporary registered as 98+55, is the latest version of the NH90-NFH (Naval Version). Known as the NH90-MRFH, it will replace the current fleet of 22 Super Lynx Mk88As which are currently active in the anti-submarine- and anti-surface warfare role.

In November 2020, the German parliament approved a 2,3 billion euro contract for the purchase of 31 Sea Tiger helicopters for the German Navy. Thirty will be operated by Marinefliegergeschwader 5 (MFG5) at Fliegerhorst Nordholz and one Sea Tiger will be used with the Wehrtechnische Dienststelle für Luftfahrzeuge 61 (WTD61) at Manching/Ingolstadt.
