The Brazilian manufacturer EMBRAER built a new unpaved runway parallel to the existing one at Gaviao Peixoto/Embraer-Unidade Gaviao Peixoto (SP), where the Millennium assembly line is located.

On the new 5,905ft (1,800 m) runway, assessments will be performed over the next weeks to analyse the effective operation of the KC-390.

The aircraft's landing gear has low-pressure tires, two 5,9 bar (85 psi) on the nose and four 7,2 bar (105 psi) on either side bogies for unpaved ground or damaged runways.

On 6 June 2021, Scramble Magazine reported on the total number of KC-390s for the Força Aérea Brasileira (FAB, Brazilian Air Force).

Brazil kc 390 unpaved 1 320Due to the economic situation, the FAB simply lacks the funds for this acquisition. Another factor is that the operational performance of the KC-390 exceeds expectations. So, the projected quantity of aircraft is not necessary to do the work. Negotiations with EMBRAER are under way.
