US 413th FTS UH 1N credit USAF 640Just another special role USAF UH-1N

In February this year, Scramble Magazine gave an overview of the last operational Bel UH-1N Twin Hueys at the three Missile Wing air bases. We failed to mention that another two Twin Hueys are still soldiering on in a special role.

Flying with the 413th Flight Test Squadron out of Eglin AFB (FL) and sometimes Duke Field (FL), are ET coded Twin Hueys 69-6617 (depicted) and 69-6626. Because the Eglin Test and Training Range (ETTR) in Florida is a vast area, those red and white coloured UH-1Ns come in very useful. Both aforementioned Twin Hueys from Air Force Materiel Command's 413th Flight Test Squadron, part of the 96th Test Wing, have been sighted recently.

Next to the above mentioned UH-1Ns and the ones at the Missile Wing air bases, the UH-1N is also used by the 1st HS First and Foremost at JB Andrews (MD), the 459th AS Orient Express at Yokota (Japan), the 36th RQS at Fairchild AFB (WA) and the 512th RSQ at Kirtland AFB (NM).
