Former RJAF Mirage F1 tie-ups Draken International
In October 2022, 25 former al-Quwwat al-Jawwiya al-Malakiya al-Urduniya (RJAF, Royal Jordanian Air Force) Mirage F1EJ/DJ/CJ received registration reservations in the US Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) register.
The aircraft in question were all sold to Draken International, a provider of tactical fighter aircraft for contract adversary air (ADAIR, also known as “Red Air”). The firm is based at the Lakeland Linder International Airport in Lakeland (FL).
Scramble Magazine reported on this sale in June 2020. Between April 2020 and January 2021 all airframes were prepared, shipped, and delivered to Draken International.
Five fully wrapped up Mirage F1 airframes were seen at TSTC Waco Airport (TX) in October, all thought to be part of the 25 aircraft that were registered in the same month. In 2010, the RJAF ceased operations with the Mirage F1, after which they were decommissioned and ended up in open storage at As Shaheed Muwaffaq al Salti AB (al-Azraq) air base. The Mirages will definitely need a thorough refurbishment before they will be able to fly again.
Draken International already operates 20 former Ejército del Aire, (EdA, Spanish Air Force) Mirage F1M and four Armée de l'Air et de l'Espace (AAE, French Air and Space Force) that were delivered via Paramount Aerospace Systems.
