Mi 35 1 640Czech Air Force is saying goodbye to its Mi-24/35

On 15 October 2023, the Vzdušné síly armády České republiky (CzAF, Czech Air Force) held a ceremony at Námest nad Oslavou to say goodbye to its last Mi-24 and Mi-35 helicopters that were in use with 221. Vrtulnikovou letka (221.vrl) based at Námest nad Oslavou.

In total the Czech Air Force operated 17 Mi-24D, 1 Mi-24DU, 26 Mi-24V and 10 Mi-35s. The Mi-24Ds and Mi-24DU have been withdrawn from service many years ago while the Mi-24Vs have been withdrawn a few years ago leaving only the Mi-35s operational. From the ten Hinds remaining only seven were still operational.

With the arrival of the first AH-1Z Vipers and UH-1Y Venoms the Mi-35s are no longer necessary for the Czech Air Force. In total the Czech Air Force will receive ten AH-1Z Vipers and ten UH-1Y Venoms.
