In the second year of its existence, the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force (ABDF) Air Wing has received its second aircraft.

Antigua and Barbuda is a small twin island nation in the Caribbean and one of the founding members of the Regional Security System (RSS), which consists of seven independent Eastern Caribbean States.

The Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force (ABDF) is tasked with internal en external security and consists of a land branch (the regiment) and a maritime branch (the coast guard).

Late February 2022, the first aircraft for the embryonic aviation branch was revealed at its home base St.John's - V.C. Bird International Airport.

Now, in its second year of operations, the Air Wing has received a second aircraft, a Piper PA-31-350 Chieftain. The aircraft has received serial ABDF-A2, generally being referred to as Alpha II.

Antigua ABDF Air Wing patch 320The aircraft will, together with sistership BN-2 Islander Alpha I, be tasked with medical evacuation, troop transport, disaster relief and search and rescue operations. Moreover, the aircraft of the air wing are offered to the other nations that are part of the Regional Security System (RSS).
