(notes: another visit to Wittmund can be described as „Skyhawk“ day. No less than four of the permanently detached A-4s were active that day, while two different GFD Learjets from Hohn performed a lot of training? approaches here. Unfortunately, the host Wing was less active that day.)

WITTMUNDHAFEN TUESDAY 2012-11-27 RW26
Weather: broken clouds, clear air, a few rain drops, light wind

Based aircraft (Jagdgeschwader 71 "Richthofen"):
F-4F JG 71 38+01 A09:27 L09:37 QRA
F-4F JG 71 38+28 spec c/s A09:32 L09:42 QRA

F-4F JG 71 38+48 T14:17 L15:26 a1
F-4F JG 71 38+53 T14:17 L15:34 a1

Additional movements:
Learjet 35A GFD D-CGFE 10A09:33 (11-13)
Learjet 35A GFD D-CGFJ 10A14:05 (11-27)

(notes: Finally „Phantom“ day again, with the QRA already beeing airborne when I arrived. Three more F-4s followed later in the morning, including a outbound-flight of clean configurated example 38+29, which went to Jever. The smaller afternoon-wave included a sixth active F-4 noted that day. The highlight of the day however was the delivery of 38+10 in its original Norm 72 colour scheme, bringing the numer of flying „Phantoms“ to seven!
Not bad, regarding the fact that another German fighter wing wasting millions of Euros tax-payers money for so-called „ten-pack“ hangars and brand-new administration buildings still hardly manages to get such a numer of aircraft into the air within one single day ..)

Due to dense morning fog, I waited for my final trip to Wittmund until I could hear the “Phantoms” in the air – from my hotel. Then, a quic scramble to Ardorf and a just one hour stay allowed me for watching recoveries of four F-4s – including the QRA, two “Skyhawks” and a rare Do.228 from Nordholz. Then it was time to leave my temporary homebase until returning in somewhere in 2013 ...)
