Reinier Schreurs attended the airshow at Ching Chuan Kang (CCK) where he photographed this Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation (AIDC) AT-5 Yung Ying (Brave Eagle) advanced jet trainer (AJT) with serial 1108/11-9010. (all photos Reinier Schreurs)
After a hiatus of three years due to COVID-19 there was an open house again in Taiwan. On 12 August 2023 Ching Chuan Kang AFB opened it’s gates for the 86th anniversary of Air Force Day (“814 Day”).
During this day more than 100.000 visitors streamed through the gates to see the aircraft in the static display, watch the flying display and sample the local food. Also this was the first public appearance of the AT-5 Brave Eagle at an airshow.
The C-130s, Fokker 50 and Beech 1900 brought guests from Taipei. The home team opened the flying display with a formation of five IDFs. This was followed by the Thunder Tigers and three solo displays while a formation of five AJTs concluded the morning programme.
In the afternoon there was again a display of the local IDFs and a fly by of five Mirage 2000s from Hsinchu and five F-16Vs from Hualien. These Mirages and F-16s remained unknown because they came straight over.
