The B-707 (T.17) Air Force will complete its operational life in October

The aircraft, in service in the Air Force since 1987 will end its operational life next October.

On Monday 12 September, Ivory Detachment received on the premises of the "Escale Aeriene Aeronautique to Senghor" Dakar flight from Torrejon AME4792 support.

This seemingly routine, is particularly relevant to be the last flight T-17 aircraft belonging to the Air Force 47 Group has made in Senegal before the end of its operational service scheduled for next October.

This aircraft, in service in the Air Force since 1987, due to its performance speed, range and large capacity cargo and passenger has been featured in a number of international missions, including notably those in Mozambique (1993 and 2000), Central America (1998), El Salvador (1989 and 2001) and Libya (2011).

After the stopover in Senegal, where cargo and passengers disembarked, the plane took off the next day bound for Libreville (Gabon). This completes the voyage by Senegalese lands of one of the flagship aircraft of the Air Force and therefore of our Armed Forces.

Strange. T.17-3 was just seen overhead Almere, flying north to south over The Netherlands. Serial assumed from ADS-B exchange, no callsign transmitted. KC-130H TK.17-07 flew along the same route at that time.

Definitely a Spanish B707, spotted it overhead Breda, out of service date for the T.17-3 mentioned by http://www.lqtdefensa.es/2016/09/desped ... -aire.html is 3 october so it appears the Spanish air force used the old smoker to support their deployment to Vidsel.

Ah, final flight is 3rd of october instead of 10th of march. Typo in one of the above quotes I assume. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the sight of this beauty in clear blue sky!

...perhaps that retirement ceremony was a bit "premature"...

- FAREWELL- Boeing 707-368C FUERZA AÉREA ESPAÑOLA --100ft LOW PASS-- (ZAFB)

Gepubliceerd op 30 sep. 2016
