I went to Zürich for the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos last week (23-25 January). The first day turned out to be the best "WEF day" for me since five years (weather wise). I never got so much sunshine and blue skies in these five years together, it was even possible to see the Alps! A lot of aircraft dropped the passenger(s) and went to another airport in Switserland or Germany, a big change from other years where most of the planes stayed in Zürich. Which means that most of the traffic returned during the following days, good for people visiting Zürich later that week.
Let's start with the first day (Wednesday 23 January 2013):
Expensive cloud leaving Zürich, to bad we were ate the wrong side of the airport
This gorgeous BBJ was the reason why we stayed at the "wrong" side, a good decision from the tour guides
Financial crises? Well the planes are getting bigger and bigger. The amount of Gulfstream and Global Express aircraft were very high this year.
Then we made sprint to runway 14 for the Ukraine International, but first this Saab 2000
Behind the Saab the second hybrid Ukraine International arrived
Like many others, finally sunshine on this Legacy 600 operated by Panama Air Force
Traveling in style
Not to forget! The Russians were present at the Whiskey ramp.
The Italian prime minister Mario Monti traveled with this Falcon instead of the Airbus.
Photo finish! UR-NST crossed the line in first place!
Nice Belgium Falcon 7X
BAKU-1.
Tanzania Government
No night shots from the first day Fog came in really quick after diner, you could not see the apron from P6 A couple of nice visitors should arrive that night.
Day 2 (Thursday 24 January 2013) Don't worry we also got that world famous WEF weather
The day started with this Philippines A340
You don't get an Malaysian Global Express everyday
Time to start the first Night tour at Zürich airport. It was a complete waste of time and money (my opinion), hope the guys on the Friday evening tour had more fun and luck as the Whiskey ramp was a no go for us this night!
Finally something else than a grey weather picture of this well known visitor
Ex swiss A330 back after a short holiday in Australia, waiting for a new owner together with three Kingfisher A330's
The old lady in maintenance at SR Technics. At least she has engines again after all the trouble last year, but now missing another import part
A short stop in this "over the top" secured part of the airport. Medvedev's aircraft getting prepared in the background for their trip back to Moscow
Day 3 (Friday 25 January 2013)
My final day in Zürich this year, grey weather again with some blue patches by the time, but no nice traffic in these periods.
One of my personal highlights this year. Mexico visiting Davos with this nice Gulfstream of the Mexican Navy!
Final Russians are leaving Zürich. What a incredible sound of this old machines!
Il-76 #1
