Westjet to add dedicated freighters

Westjet has announced it will add dedicated freighters and will operate them under the Westjet Cargo brand. The aircraft chosen is the B737-800BCF and the first is to arrive in the second quarter of 2022.

The airline is jumping on the cargo bandwagon to better serve the needs of its customers. The airline will predominantly fly cargo within Canada and plans to grow the fleet with additional B737-800BCFs next year.

Westjet is not the first Canadian airline to add dedicated freighters as Air Canada also recently decided to add B767-300Fs to its fleet.
