Transavia to lease former Blue Air B737s

A potential restart of Romanian carrier Blue Air seems more and more unlikely now that Transavia has signed a lease-agreement with Air Lease Corporation to take-over the lease of five Boeing B737-800s. Earlier, LOT took over the leases of Blue Air's B737-8s. With this latest move, Blue Air is now left with just a fleet of two B737-500s of over 30-years old.

The five B737-800s are going to Transavia Netherlands and will be used to replace the airline's current four B737-700s. In the future they will, in their turn, be replaced by the new Airbus A320neos the airline has on order.

Delivery of the five aircraft is planned for the coming weeks already and the following registrations have been reserved:

  • PH-HBJ (40696), former YR-BMJ and currently stored at Bucharest-Baneasa
  • PH-HBK (40876), former YR-BMK and currently stored at Lleida
  • PH-HBL (40697), former YR-BML and currently stored at Lleida
  • PH-HBM (40871), former YR-BMM and currently stored at Bucharest-Beneasa
  • PH-HBN (40728), former YR-BMN and currently stored at Cluj
