Sun Country expands with B737-900ERs

Sun Country Airlines has announced it will expand the fleet by adding the B737-900ER to its fleet. In total, the airline has acquired five of them which are currently in service with Oman Air. They will remain flying in Oman until the lease expires. The plan is that the first B737-900ER will join the Sun Country-fleet in November 2024, with the remaining four between March and November 2025.

According to the airline's press-release, securing the deal now ensured it could reach favorible terms for fleet expansion by 2025, while adding a large enough number of the type to operate it efficiently. The larger range and capacity of the B737-900ER also opens up new possibilities.

Sun Country Airlines, which calls Minneapolis-St. Paul (MN) its home, currently operates a fleet consisting one B737-700 and 53 B737-800s.
