GOL orders eVTOLs

GOL, Brazil's largest airline has teamed up with Grupo Comporte, the country's largest transport operator and has signed an agreement with lessor Avolon to purchase or lease up to 250 Vertical Aerospace VA-X4s. The three companies will work closely together in developing one of the world's first eVTOL ride sharing business.

With this deal, Avolon has now secured customers for half of its 500 commitments it has on the VA-X4, which it announced in June of this year.

As previously reported, the VA-X4 is being developed by Vertical Aerospace and will be able to carry four passengers over a distance of 160 km at a maximum speed of 325 km/hr. It will be almost silent and has no CO2-emissions. The first prototype should fly later this year, with deliveries to customers starting in 2024.
