Emirates takes delivery of final A380

An historical moment happened at Hamburg-Finkenwerder on 16 December, as Emirates took delivery of its 123rd Airbus A380, A6-EVS (272), which is the airline's last and also the last built A380.

Due to the pandemic and also because Airbus did not want to celebrate the end of a programme, the ceremony at the Airbus-plant was sober. Airbus did, however, carry out a photo-flight in the days before the delivery with the first and last built A380s flying together. Unfortunately, these pictures have not been released (yet).

The delivery marks the end of a sixteen-year production run of the world's largest passenger aircraft. A total of 251 A380s have been produced.

Of the 123 A380s it has taken delivery of, Emirates has, so far, retired two and has said it will continue to operate the type for another fifteen years to come.
