Delta goes MAX!

Boeing and Delta Air Lines announced at the Farnborough Air Show on 18 July that they signed an agreement for up to 130 B737MAXs. The order breaks down as a firm order for 100 B737-10s, with options for another 30. Both companies also agreed on alternative MAXs like the B737-8 and -9 if the MAX10's certification gets delayed further. No delivery timeline has been announced at this time.

The order has been a long time coming, with Delta Air Lines signaling interest in a potential MAX-order for years. The airline will use the new MAXs to renew its current narrowbody-fleet, together with the ordered Airbus A321neos.

Today, Delta has a narrowbody-fleet of 45 Airbus A220-100s, eleven A220-300s, 57 A319s, 61 A320s, 127 A321s, three A321neos, 64 Boeing B717s, 77 B737-800s, 159 B737-900ERs, 111 B757-200s and sixteen B757-300s.
