Amazon ends ATR72-operations

After just short of two years of flying, Amazon Prime Air has decided to discontinue operating with the ATR72. The e-commerce giant owned five ATR72-500Fs, which were placed with and operated by Silver Airways out of Fort Worth-Alliance (TX).

The news about the termination was first reported by Cargo Facts, which also quotes Amazon stating that the termination of operations with the turboprops will not be affecting its customers.

Amazon launched flights with the type in 2021, and will now return to an all jet-fleet, consising of Boeing B737-800s, B767-300s, and soon Airbus A330-300s. All ATR72s are currently parked at Fort Worth-Alliance (TX), waiting on the things to come.
