Air Lease Corporation signs MoU for more B737MAXs

During the presentation of its Q4-2021 and full 2021 results, lessor Air Lease Corporation has announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Boeing for 50 additional B737MAXs. The MoU is for both the -8 and -9 variant of the MAX, although the exact breakdown is unknown. Delivery is expected to take place between 2024 and 2026. 32 of the ordered aircraft are new, the remaining eighteen are conversions for three B787s that ALC had on order.

Air Lease Corporation has ordered 171 B737MAXs over the years and said during the presentation that it has placed 99% of these aircraft with customers. In order to keep up with the expected increase in demand for the MAX, the lessor has decided to order additional aircraft. Once finalized, ALC will have placed firm orders for 221 B737MAXs.
