Air China orders C919s

In a stock exchange filing of 26 April 2024, Air China announced it has signed an agreement with COMAC for the C919. In total, the airline is ordering 100 aircraft of the type. Deliveries will start this year and will continue until 2031.

The C919 has officially entered commercial service in May 2023 with launch customer China Eastern Airlines. COMAC claims that it has received more than 1,000 orders for the type, with China Eastern and Air China now being the largest customers.

Next to the C919, Air China also operates the ARJ21-700, of which it has 25 in the fleet. Further, the current Air China-fleet is made-up of 30 Airbus A319s, 38 A320s, 53 A320neos, 61 A321s, 30 A321neos, 20 A330-200s, 28 A330-300s, 30 A350-900s, eighteen B737-700s, 88 B737-800s, 21 B737-8s, three Boeing B747-400s, seven B747-8s, 28 B777-300ERs, and fourteen B787-9s.
