The first Airbus A350-1000 for Japan Airlines has emerged from the paint shop at Toulouse. It was photographed by Eurospot on 3 March 2023. The aircraft, currently registered F-WZFW (610) will become JA01WJ once delivered, which is expected after summer. The airline is planning to introduce the A350-1000 on commercial flights at the end of October 2023, with New York-JFK (NY) being the first destination.

In total, Japan Airlines has ordered thirteen A350-1000s, which will be used to replace the airline's thirteen Boeing B777-300ERs. The airline is already operating sixteen A350-900s and has two more of these on order. JAL is utilizing the A350-900 solely on domestic routes.

Next to these aircraft, Japan Airlines has a further fleet of 43 B737-800s, three B777-200ERs, 25 B787-8s, and 22 B787-9s.
