Poznan-Krzesiny (EPKS) - 2008

Post by Hermolaus »

On 25 July 2008 about 11:00 UTC (13:00 CEST) two F-16D block 52 adv. of Hellenic Air Force landed on our aerodrome. They are to depart on 28 July (tommorow).
Unfortunatedly I don't have their tactical numbers... (I haven't seen them landing in fact) :( Could anyone help me?

Hi,

You are lucky!

They were noted at Aviano last friday and were reported as F-16D 603 and 604 from 340 Mira.

Greetings, Paul

Didn't found any mention here... A European tournee? ;) Where do they actually fly to?

Edit 11:04 CEST
Found them finally here – in form of photos: 603 & 604.

You were right - many thanks for your help! :) Just as you said these were the numbers: 603 & 604 from 340 Fox Squadron from Souda AB, Crete, Greece. They departed from EPKS yesterday, 28 July, 05:24 UTC (07:24 CEST).

BTW. What does "Mira" mean/stand for?

I was lucky being able to see them departing! ;) Unfortunatedly in opposite direction of RWY and without any special goodbyes... :(

You are right, Tonno: the photos I liked to are from yesterday (I've missed this information...).
Means the Greek must have flown directly from Poznan to Aviano yesterday. And on contrary, on Friday 25 July, they came from Aviano to Poznan.
Am I right or did I confused something?...

not sure because i didn't heard the radio but for sure they landed and departed friday and were back on monday.
So we can think they used Aviano for fuelstop in route to Poznan and return.
Greek F16 are quite a common site in Aviano both for cross country missions and for fuelstop base in route to the north.

Today (13 Aug 2008) at about 0608Z Yak-40 as PLF045 got the clearance on her departure form EPKS on the way to Brussel(?). Not sure about the destination - I hardly heard TWR, not to mention a/c (was listening to my handy scanner on my way to work...).
Could anyone confirm this Yak on her way?

Heard of two Tornados to arrive EPKS tommorrow afternoon.
Could anyone confirm? Where may they come from? Any ideas?
They are said to stay for a week. Seems strange to me, but I certainly will greet them with my open arms! ;)

Tornados has just landed: #1 at 1128Z, #2 at 1130Z. No serials, not even seen them... (didn't manage to arrive at the fence) :( Only heard them at the radio. Sounded like British.

Today, 28 Aug, at 0906Z C-17A 05-5139 (cn P-139) as Rch513 has landed at EPKS.
The plane came from US and brought spare parts for our F-16s.
It is to depart tomorrow.

Questions:
- What way did it come to EPKS? Any ideas? Was seen anywhere?
- What way will it fly back to US? Any ideas? Expected anywhere?

4 new F-16 at home

Post by Hermolaus »

Today at 1440Z our 4 brand new F-16 #4070-4073 landed safely at EPKS.
Welcome home! :)

Additionally two nice sights this evening: a short visit of a group of 4 Mi-2s and some exercise by W-3 over the airfield. :)

Due to some service/maintanance works on RWY and TWYs Poznan-Krzesiny aerodrome will be temporary closed.

On 3 Oct 2008 (tomorrow) there will be an official inauguration of renovated Lask AB (EPLK) and the F-16s assigned to this AB will leave EPKS for EPLK, where they'll remain permanently. Heard of various numbers of planes taking part in this movement, but most probably all of 13 F-16s assigned to EPLK will depart EPKS tomorrow.

Another movement is planned a week later, i. e. on 10 Oct 2008. These are going to be the F-16s assigned to EPKS, moving to EPLK due to the mentioned closure of EPKS. I do not know their number, but heard of about 20 planes.

Also heard of 4 F-16s, assigned to EPKS, which are to fly to Denmark on 6 Oct 2008 for some exercise. Don't know which exactly exercise are ment (any help?). These F-16s will be of the number moved to EPLK, and they are going to depart for the mentioned exercise from EPLK aerodrome.
