Yes, she was scrapped!

http://www.airliners.net/photo/Ciskei-I ... 1653949/M/ shows the "Ports of Call" Ciskei International Airways Convair 990A (30A-5) N8357C when she was still stored at Oostende/Ostend in 1990...

But on http://www.airliners.net/aviation-forum ... n/4889141/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I found out she got scrapped recently.

Today I had a chance to go out to the El Paso airport and check up on the rumored scrapping of the Convair 990 that had been a fixture there for many years.
It was clear there wasn't much left from the view through the fence, and from a closer vantage point it was even worse.

The pictures speak for themselves.

I offered the guys overseeing the destruction of the plane $50, and then $100 for the yokes out of the plane, but they assured me they were going to the owner.
I would have thought they would have been already removed if that were the case.

At any rate, I managed to get a flight deck picture or two and a few of the outside. The wings and tail were already gone.

On a somewhat encouraging note, one of the fellows out by the plane assured me he had documented the plane with many, many pictures, and would share them later.

FWIW, I didn't really get the sense the cockpit was really going to be saved. It had significant structural damage as you can see by the photo inside the plane. Also, many of the instruments were already removed as well.
