Opa Locka Airport, Fl (KOPF/OPF) 19.01.2009

Post by MikeLima »

Very nice airport with a great variety of planes. Where in the world can you still see an operational Beech 18? Or DC3, DC6, DC7? Or Convairs? From Opa Locka, these planes still operate on chartered cargo flights to the Carribean islands or small Central-American airfields.

Besides that, Opa Locka has a modern executive jet area and of course a scrapyard with old jetliners.

Alaska. But I love these kind of planes and appreciate your photo report!
Operational DC7's:
70BF is a DC-6, easiest give-away is the three-bladed prop.

First one is an HU-16 Albatross, second one is a Grumman Goose.

You made my day again. Probably my whole weekend! It seems to be, that you can only see that kind of (operational) planes in The Sunshine State. Great pics.
